Duties and Responsibilities
- Receiving and processing voter registration applications
- Receiving felony notices, death notices, cancellations from other states and removing these voters from the electors list
- Holding hearings as necessary to challenge the right of persons to remain on the electors list
- Issuing absentee ballots
- Responsible for advanced voting
- Working closely with Election Superintendent in the reapportionment process
- Working with local groups in coordinating local registration drives
- Entering credit for voting
- Maintaining and ordering electors lists for use by Election Superintendent
- Determining and placing elector in proper Congressional, Senate, house and local districts and mailing precinct cards to all electors
- Providing municipal registrars with municipality's electors list
- Maintaining current voter registration applications; as well as maintaining deleted registrations for at least two years
The County Board of Registrars consist of three electors appointed for four year terms by the Judge of Superior Court. The Board of Registrars is required to meet once a month to transact the business of the Board and can meet at other times as required by the Chief Registrar.
