Oglethorpe County Parks & Recreation

Baseball

Tee Ball is for ages 4 – 6 with the age control date being January 1st. Children will hit off a stationary tee and will get to play the entire game.

Mighty Mites is for ages 7 – 9 with the age control date being January 1st. This is a machine pitch league and children will usually get to play the entire game. Mighty Mites is a feeder program for Little League’s minor league baseball/softball program. Some 9 year olds may not be suited to play in Mighty Mites (especially if they have sufficient experience) and may be better served playing for Oglethorpe County Little League. Please contact the recreation department if you are unsure which league your child will be better suited for and we will be happy to guide you in the right direction. If necessary, we can assess your child and recommend which league we feel your child should participate in.

Tee Ball and Mighty Mites registration begins in January and will end towards the end of February. Practices will be held in March with games in April and May. The cost to participate is usually around $55 and includes game jersey, game pants, hat, instruction, and a trophy at the end of the season.

Fall Baseball is for ages 8-12 with an age control date of August 1st. Registration is in August with practice and games beginning in September. OCRD’s Fall Baseball program is strictly an instructional league and serves as a useful stepping stone between OCRD’s Mighty Mite program and OCLL’s Minor League baseball program. This is a kid-pitch league and children will get plenty of playing time as well as have the opportunity to play various positions. Some travel is possible depending on the number of teams. The cost for this program is usually around $45 and includes a jersey, cap and instruction.
